development and early stage commercialisation of the Spatial Hearing Aid. This
grant provided by AusIndustry will support manufacture lead trials and
integration of the algorithm onto commercial hearing aid platforms.
April 2006, we are pleased to announce that VAST Audio has been working
with Philips in the testing and refinement of new binaural decoding techniques.
This work has been presented at the MPEG standards body and objectively shown to
provide the best perceptual result with the least complexity. This collaboration
is the first of many such activities that we will be undertaking throughout this
year as we begin to bring other technologies in the 3D Audio area to market.
February 2006, having now completed and fulfilled the terms and conditions of
the existing agreement with Allen & Buckeridge and met the agreed milestones we
are pleased to announce that A&B have invested a further tranche of funds to
support the ongoing growth and development of VAST Audio.
December 2005, the results of our clinical trial confirm that the Spatial
Hearing Aid provides substantial benefit to hearing aid wearers in their ability
to understand speech in noisy environments. We have completed the analysis and
reported to our investors and the grant body. We are finalising the next round
of funding for the next stage of commercialisation. We will conclude the funding
round in early 2006.
December 2005. We were awarded 3rd place in the Secrets of IT competition, at
an award ceremony this week we mingled with the Minister and other award
recipients. A press release from the Ministers office is available

November 2005 VAST Audio has been selected as a finalist in The Australia
IT Secrets Competition, the finalists have to produce a 3 min video about their
innovation. So we are busily putting that together for submission at the
end of this month more information on the competition is available at
http://www.itsecrets.com.au.
November 2005. The clinical trials for the spatial hearing aid which were
funded by a BIF grant have now completed and we are analysing the data and cross
referencing the information to ensure its validity and accuracy. Stay tuned for
the results real soon now...
May / June 2005 We were featured in a number of articles, TV news articles

Hearing Aid. Some of the articles and interviews were:

raise the profile of our efforts. Going by the response we received from the
public we are confident that the Spatial Hearing Aid is meeting a very strong
need in the community. We will have the first results of our clinical trials in
October of this year.
April 2005, we presented a poster at the American Audiological Association (AAA)
annual conference in Washington DC. The poster was entitled, High Frequencies
and Spatial Location in Speaker Segregation. A copy of the poster as a PDF is
supplied
here. February 2005, the ABC Science section ran a good article on the
value and uses of 3D Audio, our own founders were interviewed for this article.
